Summer fun post #3- 5th Anniversary surprise!!!

It was our 5th Anniversary and my amazing husband surprised me with a trip to Sand Diego. If anyone knows me there is nothing I love better than traveling and he had promised to take me to Sand Diego for a few years. I had never been to San Diego and Ted hadn't been since he was a kid, so it was a real treat! He had it planned for a couple months and arranged the flight, hotel, and babysitting all without me knowing. He gave me about a 36 hour notice to pack a bag for me and for Drew to go with grandparents. I LOVED the surprise (especially not having to setup the babysitting)!!! We were there for 4 days and had the best time. We stayed at a bed in breakfast in Coronado, which I fell in love with. In Coronado we relaxed on the beach, read books, walked around the little peninsula, went to a concert in the park and ate really well. We were also able to go to the San Diego temple, walk around San Diego during Comicon (a huge convention), see Old Town, and go to Sea World. The only bummer was that Drew got sick while we were gone. Luckily he was in good hands with his grandparents. Thanks to both of our parents for taking such good care of him!!! And Thanks to Ted for a wonderful 5th Anniversary- I loved it!!!

In front of the 1906 lodge that we stayed at.

Preparing for sunset on the beach (just a few blocks away from our B&B)

Delicious dessert at a bakery we went to at least 4 times (we were only there 4 days!)

Reading on the beach with the beautiful hotel del Coronado behind us.

Ted surrendering to some of the people at Comicon. You should have seen how happy Ted was to see all the Star Wars people dressed up. It was like a kid in a candy store.

Sunset on the beautiful beach on the day of our 5th Anniversary!!!

Checking on Drew.

The beautiful San Diego temple. Seriously one of the prettiest I have ever seen.

Summer fun post #2- Newport Beach

I finally got Ted to download pictures from our trip to Newport with his family. It was soooo much fun! Drew was the king of the trip- the kids even called him "King Drew". All of his cousins were so nice to play with him and entertain him. Drew stayed out on the beach all day long and was happy as a clam. The trip was honestly just too short, I could have stayed there for at least another week. We played on the beach, went to Drew's first movie in the theater (Cars 2), and went to Disneyland. Thanks to the family for such a fun trip!!!

Some pictures are below-

The kids all gathered around to watch Drew's baby movie. He would tell them to clap and they would all do it! What awesome cousins.

Chatting in the sand

Loving the beach!

Disney Castle!

Drew with Mickey- he was excited to see him but scared to get too close.

Toon Town Train

Ted helped get the kids into building a sand castle- it was pretty awesome!

Jumping the waves with dad!

Could these boys be any cuter?

Summer fun post #1-Bear Lake

So we are back after 6-7 months with another post. I will not make any promises that I am back on the band wagon but I hope to post a few more things about this summer. Summer 2011 has been sooo much fun! We had all kind of trips- Newport beach with Ted's family, Bear Lake with my family, and a surprise 5th Anniversary trip to San Diego (I hope to post details later, but Ted did an amazing job surprising me). I dropped my camera in the sand so most of our summer pictures are on Ted's phone. The only pictures I have downloaded are from Bear Lake- here are a few.

Most of the cousins lining up for the pinata!

Ted striking a pose! (He is always trying to make me laugh)

Fun on "uncle Nate's boat" as Drew calls it. Thanks for the toys Nate and Des!!!

Crashing on the beach.
Luckily my mom took Drew back to the beach house for a nap because we later got caught in a nasty sand storm.

Drew loving the water slide that Nate and Des brought (seriously thanks for the toys!)

Enjoying Pickleville playhouse. Drew liked it okay with all the treats we fed him. The rest of the family LOVED it and laughed ourselves to tears.

Drew playing on the grass.

Drew has grown a ton since I last wrote. He is talking up a storm (he didn't talk much until he turned 2 but now he won't stop!). He LOVES doing puzzles, going swimming, playing outside and his imagination is starting to really blossom. He loves playing with his friends and cousins and the rarely hurts them when he plays!!! This last month of fun has thrown him for a loop and I hear a lot of screaming lately. It is funny when I realize what I am saying to him because he often repeats them back to me later. For example a couple weeks ago he said "You bothers me mom!!"- too funny. We love being his parents and truly think the world of him!!!

Red all over!

January was Red All Over!!!
(this post took forever because I was waiting to download the pictures from Ted's phone)

GO UTES!!! Much to Ted's delight, Drew finally learned how to say that instead of just "Go Aggies". We took Drew to his first U of U basketball game. He loved it and made it through the whole game. He loved hearing the band play and people cheer. To my surprise he actually was somewhat interested in watching them play basketball. We had some great family fun time before work got too busy for Ted. It was a cold walk from the car but the game was fun!!!

Allergic reaction- scares the living daylights out of Drew's parents. We had to take Drew to the ER one Saturday night in January. He reacted to something unknown 2 hours after bedtime. He had thrown up, had some wheezy breathing and then the rash began to double by the minute from head to toe. The benadryl didn't stay down, so it was good we went to the ER. After some adrenaline, steroid, and benadryl injections the rash started to decrease and we were out of there within 2 hours (pretty sweet time for the ER on a Saturday night). Below is a picture of him at the ER- he is actually quite happy, the tear is from the allergic reaction.

We went to an allergist a couple weeks later and found out he is definitely allergic to peanuts (also cats and dogs). The allergist assumes that he somehow got exposed to peanuts on that scary Saturday night. I am soooo relieved to know what he is actually allergic to, I was so anxious to feed him. Truthfully, I think the reaction was fairly mild since his breathing wasn't too compromised, but I am still a little anxious about it all. We will definitely always have his benadryl and newly owned epi-pen around.
